This book is tedious. The subject itself is very interesting so, if you are lucky like I was and you get a good Professor, then it will be OK. Just keep up with the review questions and you will be fine.

The context itself feels repetitive at points and is not easy to read (coming from someone who usually has no problem reading, whether it be literature, textbooks or media)). Information is thrown at you (as can be expected in a textbook) in large, complex sentences full of lengthy examples that could be easily condensed, improving comprehensibility for students.

too hard to convert

I had no idea, (probably my fault) that this was all in metric, I am from the way back a long time ago
school, I am 75 yrs. old and they did not make us learn the metric tables, I find this book almost
useless to me, for those who know how to convert, it would be good, recipes look good , just cannot
use them my self, so it was money wasted, sorry.

I will still shop at Amazon, I love the ease and confidence I have built with Amazon, It is my favorite
place to shop, also love that almost always, there prices are lower than anywhere else.

I wanted a book that gave me recipes for completely cooking in the Nu Wave oven, not something that required frying, saut�ing, and otherwise preparing a meal that THEN goes into the NWO. Will try to return it.

Too many of the recipes are in kg or grams and rack is specified in cm. You need to be able to convert amounts. Book should have conversion chart. Very disappointing purchase.

A thrilling departure

In Der Richter und Sein Henker, known in English as The Judge and his Executioner, Durrenmatt presents a classical mystery story with true literary elements and remarkable characters. The story focuses on a terminally ill police detective whose partner had been murdered. Over the course of a few days, the reader is allowed into the mind of a truly good man and his truly evil nemesis, and learns that life is not filled with direct justice. The good man can be the judge, but only evil can be the executioner. A rewarding ending, a well-written book, and an altogether stunning read. If you speak any German at all, you would do well to treat yourself to the original as opposed to the translations. Enjoy!

A Great Read, Especially When Working on Your German

My German 4 AP class used this book as our second semester reader. It was great. It had an interesting plot, unlike most other texts I've read in a foreign language, and it wasn't too hard, so that with a little help from our teacher, we were able to figure out what was going on. I would highly reccomend this to any upper level German class, or someone who is jut looking for a good German book.

Very useful textbook.

We bought this, thinking it was just the original German text.
It isn't. It contains the original text, but it's a training aid, produced in the US. It includes copious footnotes, plus a set of questions at the end of each chapter. Strongly recommended if your objective is to use D�rrenmatt's story in conjunction with a German course.

was bought as a second copy. is my daughter's British Lit honors textbook and weighs about 10 pounds. No way she could continue carrying this back and forth to school everyday with all the other textbooks she has. It was in pristine condition and has been a life saver to have at home. Paid 140.00 for identicle one from school
